Is the solar calculator a final system design?+
No. It gives a useful planning estimate based on the loads you enter. Final sizing should be confirmed after checking startup currents, roof space, shading, battery type, system voltage and future expansion.
How do I know what inverter size I need?+
The inverter must safely carry the expected simultaneous load and any startup surge from motors or compressors. The JEWITS calculator includes headroom, then our team can confirm the final model during assessment.
Can I start with a smaller system and expand later?+
Yes, if the system is designed for expansion. JEWITS can recommend an inverter, battery architecture and solar array that leave a practical upgrade path.
Can solar work together with Kenya Power or a generator?+
Yes. Depending on the inverter and design, a hybrid system can combine solar, battery storage and grid power, and some projects can also incorporate generator backup.
How much battery storage do I need?+
Battery size depends on which loads must stay on, how long you want backup, battery chemistry and allowable depth of discharge. The calculator provides a starting estimate from your selected backup hours.
